7 Jan 08 Sum-It will be launching NEW DairyMate software at the South West Dairy Show

Sum-It will be launching exciting new software to provide a simple solution to dairy farms requiring basic herd records.

DairyMate has been developed to fulfil the need of those farmers and herdsman who do not require a comprehensive management system but still need to take care of their movements, health records and herd fertility.

To help each farm get off to a flying start with DairyMate, Sum-It will pre-load the basic cow records for the herd into the software, using data supplied from BCMS and by the farmer.

12 July 2007 Sum-It’s latest Total Dairy/Beef Updates now manage your TB Movements Control

If you farm in a high-risk TB area then you understand how the TB Movement restrictions can limit your cattle movements. The new version of Total Dairy (5.6.000) now clearly highlights individual animal status, enabling you to see at a glance a list of all calves under 43 days of age or all older cattle tested clear, positive or inconclusive.

10 May 07 Sum-It launch New Total link with Muddy Boots Agronomy software

                                         

Sum-It’s latest version of Total Standard Field Management software now provides the facility for Users to import emailed Muddy Boots spray recommendation sheets from their agronomist, should they utilise this software.

This saves further data duplication and from these records, worksheets can be generated. After the work is completed, it then becomes a straightforward task to update the records with the actual details logged.

15 Dec 06  Sum-It and Quality Milk Management Services launch ground-breaking Mastitis Analysis software

The Dairy industry has seen Mastitis incidents continually rise over the last 10 years and dairy farmers are requiring more sophisticated systems to analyse their individual herd’s exposure to this disease. Sum-It and Quality Milk Management Services have combined resources to develop a highly significant management tool for just this purpose.

Quality Milk Management Services Ltd is a milk-testing laboratory based in Somerset, owned and run by Andrew Bradley, a renowned specialist vet on the treatment of mastitis. Through his own research and experience he has devised a series of unique reports that, with their range, power and flexibility, assist farmers to easily monitor mastitis very accurately in their herd.

Sum-It have developed these reports for QMMS in two ways; they are available as a special Module for existing Total Dairy Users who choose to test their milk through QMMS, and they are also available via Quality Milk Manager, a simple-to-use dairy records program developed by Sum-It specifically for QMMS clients who do not require the higher level of functionality provided by Total Dairy software.

11 Aug 06  Milk Production Forecasting Made Easy With Sum-It's Milk4Cast

With today’s Milk Buyers requiring regular predicted annual production figures from British Dairy Farmers, Sum-It has launched a new web-based service providing accurate, straightforward and quick forecasts.

Currently, the service is configured to process data for the forecasting period from October 2006 to September 2007.

Farmers simply need log onto www.milk4cast.co.uk and download instructions with a sample input sheet requiring the minimum of information about their herd. Having compiled the necessary herd figures then they can either fill in the data direct onto the website or return the completed data sheet by fax. A fully calculated 12 month forecast is then returned to them within 2 days by email or 3 days by post.

The accuracy of the forecasts is achieved through state-of-the-art computer modelling that has been used very successfully over the last 10 years.

04 Feb 06 Uttoxeter Farmers Group gain fresh DEFRA funding for Sum-It Training

The Uttoxeter Farmers Training Group have won the West Midlands region Re-generation Award for their commitment and enthusiasm to their eighteen month Total software training program run by Sum-It’s trainers, Teresa Sturtivant and Gordon Fowler.

Now they are keen to expand on their existing knowledge and understanding on Sum-It’s programs and therefore they have bid for and consequently been granted additional funding by DEFRA for another nine months of specialised group and one-to-one training courses.

20 Dec 05   New Total Update released for BCMS CTS Web Services

All Sum-It Total Beef, Dairy and Abattoir software modules have been recently been updated and subsequently authorised to interface with the new BCMS CTS Web Services system for cattle movement notification and passport applications. Through this process all notifications are validated immediately on sending them to CTS Web Services.

Existing Users will be notified in due course about transferring across from the existing BCMS Emailing service, as the new service is phased in over the next couple of months.

07 Nov 05  New Slaughter Control software simplifies approval for Abattoirs to process OTM Cattle

The Slaughter Control program is designed to be a complete control and tracking system for slaughter houses processing UTM and OTM animals. Traceability is the key for Abattoirs in gaining DEFRA approval under the new OTM Processing rules.

"Sum-It's Slaughter Control software played an important role in our Abattoir gaining approval to handle OTM Cattle. Furthermore. its bar code scanning systems eliminate human error and we now have a complete paper trail" said Robert Ensor of Ensors Gloucestershire Ltd.".

The system offers 3 operation modules, ensuring the correct data is captured at each required point in the slaughter process, from the Lairage to the Killing Line, with a central office module to email movements to BCMS and Sample ID files to the labs.

All data inputs are made by bar code scanning,  maximising simplicity and eliminating operator errors. The system uses a single data source for all control/reporting requirements. Data security is ensured by automatic internal and external backup systems.

23 May 05  Farmer Buying Groups benefit from New Total Ledger Module

We have just launched the new Windows version of our Buying Group Ledger software. Existing Buying Group Users across the UK that have now upgraded to this version have already seen many benefits including full multi-user access across networks, higher data input speeds and enhanced turnover analysis reporting.

Integrated with the Total Accounts software, the Ledger Module ensures that the User only need input the Supplier invoice once to update both the Supplier and Member Ledgers. Monthly Supplier and Member Statements are generated and then posted to the Accounts automatically.

15 April 05  New Dairy Herd Health Planning feature launched in Total Herd

The Standard Total Herd Program now has enhanced health recording and reporting to address the national Dairy Herd Health Planning requirements, with particular reference to Mastitis and Lameness treatments.

On recording observations against cows, the Total Herd software will now suggest the most relevant treatment for any specified type of mastitis etc., based on previous actions taken. This both speeds up data recording and maintains uniformity for accurate report analysis.

28 Mar 05 Total Payroll Users reap rewards from Inland Revenue PAYE On-Line

The submission of Employers’ End of Year PAYE Returns via the internet to the Inland Revenue gains Employers a Rebate of £250 for the 2004/05 PAYE Tax Year with further rebates for the following 4 years, up to a maximum of £825.

Sum-It Payroll software Users can submit their returns very simply via the Total PAYE On-Line Module. This eliminates having to fill in P35 and P14 forms or going on-line and manually re-inputting all the data onto the Inland Revenue website.

03 Feb 05  Total Dairy Users now benefit from new Herd Health Analysis Reports

Efficient Dairy Management relies on a close awareness of the day-to-day health of the herd and the latest release of Total Dairy sees the addition of powerful new Herd Health Analysis reports.

Expanding on the existing range of health reports, the new Health Analysis Report enables Herd Managers to compare health events such as Mastitis incidents or Lameness across the whole herd, over a rolling 12-month period against previous years, as well as incident frequency across lactations.

Sum-It have enhanced the Electronic Weigher Interface Module to enable the Tru-Test 3000 Weigher to link to the Standard Total Beef Program. This joins the older Tru-Test 2000 model in exporting cattle weights directly into Total to automatically calculate daily liveweight gains.

11 Dec 04  Automatic BCMS Reconciliation added to Total Bovine Modules

To help you check that BCMS has the same records as your Total Cattle data, you can now download a file from the BCMS website (www.bcms.gov.uk) and the Total Beef and Dairy Modules will then analyse the file to compare it against your data, displaying any records that do not match.

To also assist the checking of your quarterly BCMS statements you can now output your Total Cattle data in a report of the same format and same date as the BCMS Statement.  Please contact our Support team for further assistance if required.

05 Nov 04  EBV Interface now available for Signet Beef Breeders

For those Cattle Breeders who use the Signet Recording service, Sum-It have developed an interface to import the Signet EBV breeding value data into the Total Beef Module. Users can then view an animal’s most recent EBV data within its record at any time.

If Total Beef Users wish to analyse their EBV data further within Total, the new Advanced Reporting Module enables them to design custom reports of EBV data, sorted in any order, displaying only the headings they require.

Sum-It have now released the Advanced Reporting Module for any Users running Total Livestock programs. This goes further than the range of reports available within the Standard programs, enabling Users to customise their own layouts.

You have a free hand to specify exactly what you wish to select on, in what order to show it in and then what to display on the report. Your criteria can then be saved with a unique report title to bring up at anytime in the future.

03 Sept 04 Northern Irish Sum-It Users win DARD PDA Grant

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) in Northern Ireland have been keen to help increase the use of IT in day-to-day farming in the region. One area they have been focussing on is remote data capture outside.

40 Sum-It Users in the area have just been awarded grants to provide Palmtops operating Pocket Total Modules for crop, dairy, beef and sheep recording, enabling access to their data at all times for either review or to input fresh information.

03 Aug 04 Total Dairy Module integrates with Westfalia Parlour systems

Now farmers running Westfalia dairy parlour systems can integrate their records with Total Dairy Management, avoiding unnecessary duplication and ensuring data accuracy. The Total program will import milk yields from the Westfalia software and update the same system with all fertility and health records.

Sum-It are now investigating the development of interfaces with additional Parlour manufacturers' systems.

03 Aug 04 Total Dairy Module gets enhanced Fertility Reports

Good fertility is a major factor in efficient management of any dairy herd and Sum-It are pleased to announce the addition of an important new tool to the fertility reports, the Fertility Indices datasheet, available from version 3.9 onwards.

12 June 04 Sum-It releases Link to Pear Technology Mapping software

Sum-It Users who operate the Standard Total Field Management Module and also run Pear Technology Mapping software can now view a field map from within any Total field record by simply clicking on the Map button in the field record screen. This will launch the PT Mapper or Maps 6.0 software, load up the relevant file and zoom in on the specific field. Users can then move easily between both programs.

04 May 04 Sum-It Beef and Dairy software gains Approved Status from DARD in Northern Ireland

All Sum-It Total Beef and Dairy programs have now gained full approval from the NI Department of Agriculture (DARD) for generating a valid contemporaneous Herd Register report. DARD Inspectors will only accept computer printouts over manual movements books if the software has fulfilled their stringent security requirements and Sum-It is delighted to be one of only two companies with this approval.
